Argile's first meeting with Sona Diabate

Take an unforgettable voyage with Argile - an evolving work-in-progress music project that has the feel of a live concert! Enjoy soundscapes from their 1997 West African/1998 European tours. Travel with the group from small African clubs in Treichville/Abidjan, Ivory Coast and the stadium in Lomé, Togo to European music festivals. Feel the energy of Argile's and Sona Diabate's first meeting and enjoy an exciting version of the Bembeya Jazz National's hit-- "Mamy Wata", a song composed by Sona's brother Sekou "Bembeya" Diabate.   "Argile präsentiert auf dieser CD 3 Live-Stücke der Afrika-Tour, 5 Mitschnitte eines Konzertes in Deutschland, einen Radio-Auftritt aus Italien. Argile hat stets namhafte afrikanische Künstler am Start und vereint Jazz, Pop, südamerikanische Elemente, traditionelle westafrikanische Melodien und Rhythmen, zu einer spannenden Mischung, die an Afro-Pop, besonders Soukous und Highlife, erinnert.
  
  Zum Urgestein der Gruppe gehört der amerikanische Schlagzeuger Charles Blackledge, der auf dieser dritten CD von Argile auch Talking Drum und Djembe spielt. Er setzt am Drumset Elemente aus Rock, Jazz und Latin ein, um den verschiedenen Stücken sehr feinfühlig Groove zu verleihen.
  
  Besonders überzeugt die abwechslungsreiche Mischung auf der CD, es wird nie langweilig. Die Freunde der Djembé kommen besonders bei Track No. 7 auf ihre Kosten: Doundounba - Jussuf Kanté Band & Argile. Hier übernahmen kurzerhand die Trommler das Feld und spielten was das Zeug hält...Besonders überrascht der Balafon-Spieler Kaba Kouyate, der hörbar ein echter Griot ist und unglaublich virtuos und melodiös spielt."
