* * * Music-Journalist Harold Bongo wrote about Nsotse/Traore's "Bushtaxi from Bamako To Accra"-CD in the African Musical Page of ReggaeNewsMagazine:
BUSH TAXI FROM ACCRA TO BAMAKO
Nii Ashitey Nsotse: Tapping African drum.
Kassoum Traore.
The album titled Bush Taxi from Bamako to Accra featuring two of West Africa’s champion crafts men. (Nii Ashitey Nsotse and Kassoum Traore) with “Drumming and uplifting tones from the natural African traditional drums in unity”. What is interesting with the album; is the fact that the two African musicians are from great African drumming family backgrounds in Mali, Ghana and La Cote d`IVoire. Not surprising about such musical unity as the name Ghana also comes from the dreaded Mali Empire of Mansa Musa fame .These master drummers have harmonised their art to play and fused in rhythmic language composing an album which will force you to dance, jog and swing to the sounds and melodies. I call it “The Bush musical therapy”. Nii Ashietey Nsotse the best drummer from Avennor in Accra plays and creates the “Kpanlogo drums”, Dondoon from Nigeria, and the bells instrument with Kassoum Traore from La Cote d’Ivoire is a totalitarian Djembe specialist. With the future of world music seated in West Africa, one can see the potential of the album the Bush man’s Taxi is travelling not only from Accra to Bamako, but to Cairo through to the heart of the Zulu lands and further across the oceans to the rest of the world . Recommending tracks on this Tamtam album are as follows: Tracks 3 “Travelling Together” & 4 “Conversation” are for brain storming. Tracks 2 “Accra”, 5 “Spirit” & 6 Arrival should be played for spiritual purposes. Track1 “Energy” & 7 “Welcome Highlife” for fitness and tracks 9 “Nama” &10 “Fula” are meant to revere our ancestral worship. Check out www.Bibiafrica.de for more authentic African stuff.

* * * USA: World Discoveries July 2004 Jobarteh Kunda cds - Bibiafrica
The Jobarteh family is a large, respected family of Jails or Griots in the Manding families of West Africa, and Kunda is the Manding word for family or clan.
Strangely, the co-leader of the group, Tormenta Jobarteh, was not born into the family: he's originally from Germany - it's finally happening, we now have 'African' bands co-founded by Westerners who traveled to Africa in the 1980s and 90s to study or apprentice under African musicians. (...) "The eight-piece combo do a very good job of bringing traditional Manding music of the Gambia into the modern world without losing the feel of the original. Tormenta Jobarteh plays kora and talking drum amazingly well for a person who grew up in Munich, and his co-leader Mori Dioubate plays balafon (marimba) and guitar.
On their second album ALI HEJA, the group takes a great leap forward with a couple of personnel changes: guitarist Teddy Toure brings a true late-20th century African sound to the band - very professional now; not so experimental as before.
(...) the group vocals (...) are truly wonderful (...). This is a band to watch out for!
